A Manchester school built on stilts is celebrating the completion of building work next week, which may interest families considering moving to Manchester houses for sale in the Lower Crumpsall area.
Irk Valley Community school, which is on Waterloo Road, cost £9 million to build and will open later this month, replacing the existing St Thomas school on the opposite side of the road.
"This marks another milestone in the regeneration of north Manchester," said Sheila Newman, executive member for children's services at Manchester City Council.
"The school promises to be an innovative, modern, learning environment and something that the whole community can be both proud of and benefit from," she added.
Irk Valley Community school is built on stilts ranging in height from 60cm to 1.5m to minimise the risk of flooding.
Families might want to consider moving to Manchester houses for sale in the area, not just because of the innovative new school, but because around 1,300 jobs are to be created in Trafford, a 20 minute drive away, when construction begins on a data scanning centre, as reported by the North West Development Agency.
